This little private Island in the Bahamas is one of my very favorite places. It is owned by Holland America Cruise line and is on many of their itineraries in the Caribbean. The beach is shaped like a crescent moon thus the name Half Moon Cay. I love the white sand and gorgeous blue water.
Tourists are only delivered to these shores by cruise ship and the services of the ship extend onshore and meals are served onshore as part of experience.
The island has plenty of room to explore, walk, horseback ride it has a playground, dining facilities, restrooms, cabanas, and lots and lots of beach chairs.
Another reason this island has such a special place in my heart is that my husband's first painting that he did was of this beach. He went to visit his Mother for the weekend and came home with a beautiful painting of Half Moon Cay. Since he had never painted before and he was in his 40's I couldn't believe that he had really painted it. This beautiful place helped to uncover his natural talent. Since this first painting he has painted other scenes from our travels, mostly to share with our children who chose the destinations.
