Sometimes you visit a place and the pictures you take are never able to capture the utter beauty and magic of the place you just experienced. Of all the places in the world that I have seen so far, this is one place that I will always revere as one of the most beautiful places on Earth.
We stumbled upon this beautiful view when we were looking for a place to stay for the night. We spent the day in Rome and the hotels there were very expensive (around $400-$500 a night) We wanted to get on the road to our next destination and stopped at a hotel off the highway about an hour north of Rome. Luckily the Hotel was full and they suggested we check out an Agriturismo nearby. We traveled in the dark without navigation and luckily found the place called Beata Vanna in Fabro Italy in the Umbria region of Italy. In the morning when we woke up we saw the most beautiful views ever.
The countryside looks like a patchwork quilt has been draped over the rolling hills and a beautiful Villa has been placed perfectly on the nearby hillside. The patchwork pieces are made of small vineyards, olive orchards, and other stunning agriculture. We did not get the anticipated early start on our trip to Northern Italy because I had to take pictures and soak in the beauty of this stunning place.
The town was small and charming. We bought some pastries at a local Pasticceria and headed down back on the highway with sweets and sweet memories of our time in Beautiful Umbria. We have since this time taken other people back to this Agriturismo and had a wonderful time each visit.
This is a typical view in rural Italy. The cities are magnificent but the countryside is my favorite.
The colors shown below are a good sample of the colors that Italy likes to decorate with the most. The favorites seem to be, white, rust, gold, orange and other fall colors all mixed in with the green of the countryside. It is a visual treat.
