The beautiful island of Tahiti is located in the South pacific. It is one of the island colonized by the French. It was fun for me to see and hear Polynesian locals speaking French instead of the Hawaiian that I am accustomed to.
When I pictured a beach in Tahiti for some reason I pictured white Sand beaches but I was surprised to see black sand beaches (actually more gray)
This is a blow hole just off of the highway that goes around the island.
There is no shortage of waterfalls on this charming island
This Grotto is a tourist attraction. the grotto and the grounds surrounding it are impressive

As we drove around the island I started taking pictures of meetinghouses belonging to my religion, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Pretty soon I had many pictures and decided to stop taking pictures. I had no idea that the church had so many members in Tahiti. I was also surprised how much of a small town feel the island had and how much of it was similar to rural Hawaii. We have a house on the big Island of Hawaii and this island was very similar including the black sand beaches and plants and island attractions. The big difference was the French spoken by the locals. I loved this Island!!
