Bora Bora

Surrounded by beautiful crystal clear water, the island of
 Bora Bora is a dream destination of many.  

The mountain in the center of the island seems to watch over the locals and guests who visit this island paradise.

The island is famous for lodging in over-water bungalows where you can jump into the water from your private room.  These are impressive to see as they spider out into the protected part of the ocean.

The town and beaches are not overly impressive and this island is best appreciated by boat.  If you take a tour, you can snorkel in areas aplenty with fish and colorful coral.  The reefs in the area are superior to the Great Barrier Reef in my opinion, if you want to see colorful fish and coral. If you have a good guide, you can also swim with stingray and manta rays.

 

 

This was our tour guide.  He was excellent.  We were very blessed when we arrived at the port we were trying to decide what to do and ran into this young man who had been waiting for a group that had chartered his boat for the day.  Since they didn't show up and had already paid for the tour, he offered to take us for the day for a minimal cost.  We had a private guide and our own boat all day.  He took us to the best snorkeling places and we had an amazing day.  Below you can see the tour boats in the popular snorkeling spots where you can snorkel off the side of the boat.

We visited for a full day and saw everything in just one day.  If you are searching for a week of unique daily active adventures, this may not be your cup of tea.  If you want a place to relax in beautiful surroundings and occasionally take a dip in beautiful clear water, this would be a perfect place to relax.
