Kusadasi Turkey

This port city is a charming place with less commercialism than Istanbul and the people we met were genuine and as welcoming as can be expected to Americans coming to gaze into a Turkish city.
This picture shows some local fare.

The main attraction in the city is this huge Trojan horse that was used in the movie Troy.It  is permanently on display along the touristy coast/prominade of the city Canakkale.  The statue was given to the country of Turkey after the ministry of Culture and Tourism officially requested it. I guess if you want a part of a movie set,  It doesn't hurt to ask.

The Flag of Turkey flies on the building in the background.  The residents are very proud of their Turkish heritage.

This is inside of a Muslim mosque.  The mosques are smaller and plentiful in the city.  The lines on the carpet are where the men participate in prayers several times a day.

Each Mosque has a washroom adjacent to to the mosque where the participants wash before they enter the church.

We had a discussion with our Muslim guide as he showed us from place to place.  He mentioned that residents of the city are not required to practice Islam, but they have a difficult time getting a job etc if they don't share the state religion.
