What a beautiful place we found on the island of Mallorca in the city of Palma. Palma is the capital city of this island and a gorgeous resort city. It is like the Hawaii of Spain and it is understandable that people love to visit here.
The picture above shows the Santa Maria gothic Cathedral that overlooks the bay of Palma.
We also visited the Bellver Castle on the top of the hill in Palma. It was a medieval fortress and is unique.
The Bay of Palma.
Our tour guide took us to a stadium that is used for the traditional Bull fights that Spain is known for. This was a very fancy stadium. The ornate touches are an example of the Spanish tradition of combining artistry with function.
When we purchased a house a few years ago we were not excited by the black and white floor in the foyer and kitchen that is like the one pictured above. We have discussed replacing it a number of times but then we keep seeing our checkered floor in impressive places and wonder if we should keep it because obviously it is classy :). We have seen the floor in numerous ornate government buildings, St Mark's Cathedral in Venice etc. etc. We still have the floor for now. It reminds us of beautiful places that we have traveled to.
