Wailea Hotels
Our favorite area to stay in Maui is the Wailea area. We have stayed at the Wailea Marriott, a resort on Mckenna Beach, the Four Seasons resort and the Marriott Residence Inn. We have also stayed in the
Lahaina area, Kihei, and in Kahilui but my heart belongs to the Wailea area. I will include some photos from some beauties we have witnessed in the Wailea area.
Iao Valley
This is a must see on a trip to Maui. Just minutes from the Kahului Airport and the cruise port. The "needle" is a mountain that you have to see to appreciate. We love this beautiful and historical location site.
Lahaina Town
Lots and lots of visitors love the charming town of Lahaina and the resorts to the north of town with their beautiful inclining beaches and variety of restaurants. Right in the center of town is a historic banyan tree, ideal for pictures.
Windsurfing Beach
Sealife
Maui is famous for it's Whale watching. It has ideal places to see large vistas of ocean that allow multiple sightings of whales. There are also opportunities to see some dolphins and sea turtles. Below are some photos of turtles and whales..
Pulehu Chapel
In Kula Hawaii in the center of Maui is the oldest LDS church building in Hawaii. We have visited this church several times and enjoyed the peaceful feeling found on the grounds. The last time we visited it was closed and overgrown and hopefully it was just due to Covid and lack of staffing and not closed forever.
Haleakala
Traveling to the the top of this volcano in the early morning for the sunrise and at sunset is a very popular activity for tourists to Maui. On the way up the long drive to the top, you can take a little hike and see the craters about half way to the top. Be sure to check them out on the way up if you are going in the evening but they will not be visible after dark
Maui Landmarks
Beachfront
PS We love this 50s diner in the Mall near the airport and cruise port. Lots of fun memories here.
