We arrived into Corfu on a cruise ship and toured the city on a local bus. The locals told us to go to the beaches further up island because the sand was softer up there. We laughed when we realized that the local definition of sand is not the same as what we would call sand. The "gravel" is indeed a bit smaller as you travel farther from the port, but we did not see any beaches with "sand" on them :)

There was a fortress that was impressive in this port and the town was fun to walk through. You can see some Greek writing on the signs.

We had a fun day in this port although it was our daughter's least favorite country to visit. I will be doing posts on several other cities in Greece. Each one is unique and Greece is a very versatile country.
