Bay of Islands, New Zealand, is one of the most picturesque places in the North Island of New Zealand. We enjoyed a tour of the glowworm caves where pictures were prohibited, so I don't have any photos to share from there. It was amazing to see the glowworms in action. The ways the the glowworms space themselves very uniformly is very interesting. At one point in looking at the glowworms I mentioned that they look almost like net lights on the ceiling. A fellow guest said in her beautiful Irish accent: "Do you think they're fooling with us?" They weren't and the glowworms are real but I got a little chuckle out of that conversation. These are a couple of pics of the outside of the glowworm cave
There is an artsy town on the island that has many bold art statements including a bathroom that was designed by a famous artist. The tiles and mosaics were quite interesting. They covered every part of the bathroom and made the experience a bit intimidating.:)

There is unique candy in New Zealand and the local people and Australians call the candy "Lollies" They don't have to have a stick to be a lolly like a lollipop but this cute title includes all sweets.
We stumbled upon this charming waterfall and store housed in a house with quaint gardens, The picture that appears first on this post is from this location.

We also saw some lovely vineyards growing on the island. I love the order and beauty of vineyards and they remind me of Italy. I don't drink wine but I do love to see a good vineyard.

We found one of our favorite treats here. Mint Kit Kats. |
The countryside was beautiful and green. It looks like it rains liberally here and that it would be pretty easy to grow things on this beautiful Island.
If you visit New Zealand, This was our favorite part of the North Island.
