The drive to see the concentration camp was a beautiful and it is crazy that such a horrible place is located in such a beautiful part of the world.
When you arrive at the museum the first part is an indoor museum that is educational about the holocaust. The artwork is interesting and meaningful.

| After the sobering museum full of education on the Holocaust we crossed under a little bridge walk under to the part of the concentration camp restoration where the prisoners were allowed to stand outside. The fences and the information about how many people were actually in the camp at a time were eye-opening. |

The outdoor museum is a realistic replication of what the concentration camp residents had to endure. The bunks are very small and stacked closely and looked very uncomfortable. If I remember correctly, the prisoners slept 3 to a tiny bunk. This means that in the room in the photo below 168 people had to sleep. There would have been 252 people in this room if people were made to sleep on the floor. |

This is a community urinal. No privacy here. Below is a room of open toilets. The prisoners were given a very short amount of time on the toilet each. They could not go whenever nature called but were only allowed to go when they were taken. Given the fact that they were given so very little to eat, this arrangement was pretty inhumane. All the freedoms that these people had known in their lives before were stripped from them, along with their dignity, when they were forced to live here, barely alive and in constant humiliation. |

These photos are of the ovens where the Jews and other prisoners were burned after they were killed in the gas chambers or died on their own. The gas chamber was a tiled empty room with a pipe that pumped the fatal toxic gas that killed the people that were crammed into the room with standing room only. After everyone was expired, their bodies were burned in the ovens.
After the unimaginable experience of seeing where thousands of faithful Jewish people were murdered, it was a little bit comforting to enjoy the walk provided by the museum to be able to ponder on the things that we had experienced.
The events that happened in this concentration camp were indeed evil and unbelievable. We must allow a disdain of other people to allow anything like this to ever happen again!!
After a solemn and sad few hours at the Concentration Camp. We happened upon a beautiful lake close by that had very unique colors. Please enjoy these pictures of a hidden spot in Germany.
